The fieldwork concentrates on late prehistoric and historic periods, but gives training in methods (both survey and excavation) relevant to most periods. They have found the programme extremely beneficial, and many have continued onto graduate programmes in Canada or elsewhere. We emphasise comparisons between North American and UK methods so that the experiences can be transferred, and the three elements of written work ensure that knowledge is consolidated and preserved in more than memories.<u></u><u></u></span></p>
