<p class="MsoPlainText">Waterloo has one of Ontario’s most diverse undergraduate student populations, with specific challenges as a result in terms of facilitating student success. In Arts, the ELPE requirement, burgeoning 2 + 2 programs, and an increased
emphasis on student success are just some of the initiatives that have underlined the need for increased awareness and understanding of the international student group.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoPlainText">Dr. Janette Ryan, a leading expert on the internationalized classroom, is visiting Waterloo for three days, March 5 – 7 to share her knowledge about international student success and to consult with those interested about the development
of programs that can assist international and domestic students (bio attached). In addition to a public lecture (poster attached), there will be opportunities for in-depth consultations for interested groups of 5 or more, which may be booked by contacting
the Arts Undergraduate Office at ext. 33554 or <a href="mailto:wchesney@uwaterloo.ca">
wchesney@uwaterloo.ca</a>. (There are a total of 5 1½ hour slots available, for up to 40 people each.) Time and numbers allowing, arrangements may be made to have Dr. Ryan come to your department or area.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoPlainText">Dr. Ryan is a Research Associate of the Contemporary China Studies Programme at the University of Oxford; Director of the
<a href="http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/teaching-international-students">Teaching International Students Project</a> for the UK Higher Education Academy; and Visiting Professor at the Centre for Academic Practice and Research in Internationalisation at Leeds Metropolitan
