valued at $1000 per student, are awarded annually to full-time undergraduate or graduate students registered within the first four years of their program within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo and taking at least one Germanic and Slavic Studies

in the Faculty of Arts, who have or will have completed at least one course in German Studies at the University of Waterloo before beginning their study abroad and who have registered for courses or a study-abroad program (approved by their Department) at
a university in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland are eligible to apply for this travel grant.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto"><span lang="EN-CA" style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Calibri;mso-ascii-theme-font:

submit an application to the Waterloo Centre for German Studies as e-mail attachment (PDF only) to
<a href="mailto:wcgs@uwaterloo.ca">wcgs@uwaterloo.ca</a>. The application letter must not be longer than one page. In the application, students should detail their experience and background in studying the German language, culture, and history and their motivation
and plans for their study period abroad. Applicants need to provide a letter of acceptance or equivalent for (summer) courses or a study program at a university in a German-speaking country. Normally students would apply in a given year, if their course(s)
or the program start between April of that year and March of the following year.

will be adjudicated by the Executive Committee of the Waterloo Centre for German Studies. Successful applicants, who are not Canadian citizens and need a visa for their stay in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, need to provide evidence of having met all visa
requirements before the Travel Grant can be released. Award recipients are expected to write a two-page informal report about their studies at a German-speaking university and their experiences and learning in the country and submit it to the e-mail address
of the Waterloo Centre for German Studies at the latest one month after completing their study abroad.</span><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Calibri;mso-ascii-theme-font:major-latin;
