UW Network Reading Group: Visit the UW Network Reading Group homepage to see a list of publications, presentations, and discussions. The goal of this group is to develop a conversation with people who are interested in exploring both recent and classic papers on networks, including possibilities for applying network science to existing research challenges. For further information please contact Milton Friesen (ingenuityarts@gmail.com).

Complex Health Innovation under Resource Constraints: This new WICI working group was established in early 2013. The group is comprised of various members of the health care community, including practitioners, industry employees, and academics. The group aims to understand the extent to which health care systems resemble complex adaptive systems and the implications that arise from such a view. Particular emphasis is placed on: (i) identifying ways in which complex systems theories and methodologies can be directly applied to health care research and policy-making; and (ii) curriculum development which teaches students how to apply complex systems theories to their learning within the health care context. Please visit the WICI Complex Health Innovation homepage for updated information, or contact Professor Chris Bauch (cbauch@uwaterloo.ca).
NEW! Agent-based modeling working group-Call for Interest: Agent-based simulation models are ideal for investigating a wide range of complex systems research questions, as they directly represent individual actors (agents) and simulate the interactions and feedback among them. During past WICI seminars, many researchers and students in the university have expressed their interest in ABM and a desire for communication with others sharing their interest. Therefore we plan to start an ABM working group beginning in the fall term. We welcome participants from all academic fields, and the content and structure of the workshops will be decided after consultation with all participants. Please visit the WICI ABM working group homepage for further information and/or contact Xiongbing Jin (x37jin@uwaterloo.ca).
PENDING! Dance your PhD working group: Looking for an alternative to the three-minute thesis competition to publicize your PhD research? Need an excuse to get out of your chair? Pending the availability of studio space and the bone repair progress of one of the main organizers, we are soliciting interest in joining a Dance your PhD working group. Contact info@wici.ca with expressions of interest, and stay tuned for additional information.
