The exhibition consists of four stations that present sculptures in the form of furniture and textile objects, alongside videos that explore concepts of becoming through performance. Each work contains moments of co-creation, between the subjects within the works as well as between the artworks and the audience. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the objects and spend time moving from each station to the next in an active role of thinking and feeling</span><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">.</span><br><br><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt;">Marianne Burlew is an installation artist whose work focuses on themes of embodiment. She is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Waterloo, and received her BFA from York University. She participated as an artist-in-residence in the textile studio at the Harbourfront Centre over several years, and has exhibited her artworks at the Idea Exchange, Red Head Gallery, Harbourfront Centre, Gladstone Hotel, Craft Ontario Gallery, and Mississauga Living Arts Centre. My paintings are developed in stages; beginning with a process of mining and selecting specific images, which are then manipulated before being tested as studies on paper or translated to canvas. Focusing primarily on female figures I search for a sense of strangeness or ambiguity in each image—uncertainty about the figure’s actions or whereabouts in space. I mine this ambiguity to explore relationships between past and present, reflecting a personal need to establish a sense of identity and understanding of my family’s past as well as exploring the universal relationship we have to the photographic</span> image.<br><br><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt;">Veronica Murawski is a painter who uses the figure as a means of examining shared experience and sensation. She is currently completing her MFA at the University of Waterloo, and received a BFA Honours from the University of Windsor. She has exhibited her works at the University of Waterloo Art Gallery, and Common Ground Art Gallery in Windsor. Veronica is a recipient of the 2015 Keith and Win Shantz Fellowship and spent the summer in Madrid working under the guidance of British painter Simon Edmondson.
