month, the <a href="http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canadian-banknote-woman-1.3885844">
<span style="color:blue">Bank of Canada announced</span></a> that Viola Desmond would feature on the $10 bill in its next series of bank notes. Desmond was an entrepreneur from Halifax, N.S., who is remembered for refusing to leave a whites-only area of a
movie theatre in Nova Scotia in 1946, and subsequently being among the first to challenge Canada's racial segregation laws.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
