the Speaker: <o:p></o:p></span></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Sabine Appel studied Philosophy and German Literature in Mannheim and Heidelberg. A freelance writer since 1992, she received her PhD from Heidelberg University in 1995 after writing her thesis on the famed
German writer Thomas Mann. She specializes in historical biographies, and her subjects have included Goethe, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, and Madame de Staël, among others. Her book on the debate between Henry VIII and Martin Luther (German title:
<i>König Heinz und Junker Jörg: Heinrich VIII. gegen Luther gegen Rom</i>) is her 11<sup>th</sup> publication.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
