Dr. Hoda Mahmoudi, Baháʼí chair for world peace at the University of Maryland, will be giving an interactive talk on approaches to peace in challenging times. D<span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">rawing certain initial insights from religion,</span> the
Baháʼí chair for world peace <span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">
aims to develop a sound scientific basis for knowledge and strategies that lead to the creation of a better world. Viewing humanity as a collective and organic whole, the program’s faculty explore the role that social actors and structures play in removing
obstacles and creating paths to peace. Dr. Mahmoudi's research focuses on structural racism, women's empowerment, global governance, human nature and environmental challenges. Prior to joining the University of Maryland, Dr. Mahmoudi served as coordinator
of the research department at the </span>Baháʼí<span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"> world center and as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Northeastern Illinois University. She has authored and co-authored several books on peace, inequality,
and human rights.</span></div>
