Position in Theatre at Calvin College for September 1996

The Department of Communciation Arts and Sciences at Calvin College
invites applications for an expected position in theatre beginning 1
September 1996.

We are looking for someone able to teach courses in Introduction to
Theatre, a two-course history of theatre sequence, and to direct no more
than one production annually. The person appointed will also teach
courses in related areas, such as public speaking or oral interpretation. We
look for colleagues with a sense of humor.

The Calvin theatre program includes three faculty whose primary interest
is in theatre. The department has two performing spaces, an excellent
scene shop, and an adequate costume shop. The college as a whole
provides excellent support for teaching, performance, and scholarship.
Those interested in the the department can investigate it over the WWW:

Calvin College is a strong liberal arts college rooted in the Reformed
Christian tradition. All faculty must be able to affirm that tradition as
expressed in the Reformed creeds, and must be members of either the
Christian Reformed Church or a denomination in ecclesiastical fellowship
with it.

Rank is open. Completed Ph.D. preferred. We encourage applications from
both recent Ph.D.s and more established people. Our salaries and fringe
benefits are competitive with those of comparable institutions. Calvin
College encourages applications from those who will broaden the ethnic
range of our faculty.

Deadline for applications is 1 October 1995, or until filled. To apply o
