CHAIRPERSON OF THE DEPARTMENT OF THEATRE AND DRAMA
INDIANA UNIVERSITY BLOOMINGTON
 
Indiana University Bloomington invites nominations and applications for
the position of Chairperson of the Department of Theatre and Drama.
 
The Chairperson is the chief executive officer and the academic and
artistic leader of the Department, which offers B.A., M.A., M.F.A., and
Ph.D. degrees.  The Department of Theatre and Drama believes that
theatrical productions and classroom study are of equal and complementary
value.  Courses in acting, directing, playwriting, dramatic literature,
theory, theatre history, design, and technology are all vital and
interrelated aspectes of the theatre and drama program.  The Department
has 17 faculty members, a large professional staff, 45 graduate students,
and 180 undergraduate students.
 
Qualifications include academic experience; demonstrated scholarly,
professional, and/or artistic achievement; ability to select and oversee
a production schedule of five mainstage, four studio, and four
professional summer theatre productions yearly; a commitment to
undergraduate, graduate, and professional education and training,
demonstrated administrative, budgetary, and fund-raising skills.
Candidates for the position must be eligible for an appointment at the
rank of Full Professor and must hold a terminal degree in one of the
areas traditionally associated with theatre and drama  Candidates must
have a commitment to collaborative and collegial decision making.
 
Salary open.  Position is available July 1, 1996.  To ensure full
