upcoming conferences on theatre

The annual conference of the International Federation for Theatre Research is
being heldin Tel Aviv on June 16-21, 1996.  The focus of the conference is on
interactions between theatre and the Holy Scriptures.  Suggested topics are:
 - The unholy: secularization, parody and profanation in drama and theatre
 - Reenactment and celebration in ritual and theatre
 - Intertextualities of myth and theatre
 - Sacred icon and theatre
 - Holy space and theatrical space
 - Sacrificial patterns in the theatre
 - Hieratic gesture in the theatre
 - Interculturality in the theatre
 - Liturgical rites and theatre
 - The divine on stage
 - The scriptures as theatrical text and pre-text
 - Religious theatre and the audience
