One of the places to check is the Ball/Plant (eds) Bilbiography of
Theatre History in Canada (ECW Press, 1993). An item which comes to mind
immediately: Sheilagh Jameson's Chautauqua in Canada (Calgary: 1979).
Quite a bit of work has been done in the area. Ken Mitchell wrote a play
done on CBC tv: Chautauqua Girl. There are lots of records of the
Chautauqua years, so your research will be fruitful.
