THE WINNING MONOLOGUE + 10 HONOURABLE MENTIONS TO BE PUBLISHED IN CANPLAY,
PUC'S BI-MONTHLY NEWS MAGAZINE
 
 
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
        * All playwrights and writers.
 
ELIGIBILITY
        * A monologue not previously published or produced in any format.
        * May not exceed 75 lines.
        * Only monologues written in English will be accepted.
 
HOW SHOULD ENTRIES BE SUBMITTED?
        * Enter as many monologues as you wish.
        * Entries must be typed or computer generated; double spaced on 8
1/2 x 11 paper.
        * The title of the entry should be on each page, and each page
should be numbered.
        * Your name, full address, phone number and list of monologues must
be submitted on a separate sheet of paper either typed or computer
generated (because entries are judged blind, your name must not appear
anywhere on the page with the monologue).
        * Electronic submissions (faxes, e-mail) are eligible for
consideration only if accompanied by a VISA or MasterCard number.
        * $10 submission fee per monologue (GST included). Payment by VISA,
MasterCard, or Cheque or money order made payable to Playwrights Union of
Canada.
 
JURORS
        * to be announced in July, 1996.
 
SPECIAL NOTE
        * Copyright remains with the playwright/writer. We will request a
one-time, non-exclusive permission from the authors of the eleven chosen
monologues, including the winning monologue, to print their work in CanPlay
over a period of a year.
        * Revisions on monologues will not be accepted after submission.
        * Entries will be returned, and/or a list of the winner and the
honourable mentions provided, only if an appropriate self-addressed stamped
envelope is included. If you wish to receive an acknowledgment of your
submission, send a self-addressed stamped post card.
 
SPECIAL NOTE FOR INTERNATIONAL ENTRANTS
        * Outside Canada $10 in U.S. funds per monologue.
        * Entrants outside Canada who wish their entries to be returned,
and/or a list naming the winner and the honourable mentions, please add
$2.00 U.S. to the total entry fee. If you wish to receive an acknowledgment
of your submission, send a self-addressed post card, and add $1.00 U.S. to
the total entry fee.
 
DEADLINE
        * Entries must arrive at the office by January 31, 1997. A
shortlist will be announced by April 30, 1997 and the Winner  and
Honourable Mentions will be announced at the Playwrights Union of Canada
Annual General Meeting, June 1997.
