I thought this might be of interest to a number of readers:

For the second year, Theatre Passe Muraille is holding a series of talks
called the Passe Muraille Papers. The format is as follows: a
twenty-minute paper is presented and a panel consisting of 3-4 members,
all of whom have read the paper in advance, deliver a response of about 10
minutes each. After that, there is an open discussion with the audience
and then everyone goes to the Passe Muraille Bar where informal
talk continues.

The season's first session is called: Ants in the Insect Kingdom: Critics,
Criticism and Culture in Toronto Theatre.

I will be presenting a paper on theatre criticism in Toronto and the
panelists will be: Ronald Bryden, Monique Mojica, The Globe's Kate Taylor,
The Star's Vit
Wagner, and the moderator will be Robert Crew.

Date: Monday, November 18
Time: 8 PM
Place: Theatre Passe Muraille Backspace
Admission: $5
CAll 504-PLAY (7529) for reservations or more information.

The subsequent papers will be:

Art and Awards: The Dora Dilemma - Feb. 10, 1997

Business and the Arts: A Marriage Made in ----? - March 24, 1997

Theatre and Community (aka, Who Cares?) - May 12, 1997

All papers are at 8 pm, in the Backspace and cost $5 to attend. Last
year's sessions were very successful so hopefully the audience for these
will grow. They provide a great opportunity to discuss the sorts of
issues we raise on this list.
