CALL FOR PAPERS

_Theatre Research in Canada_ would like to announce a call for
papers for a Special Issue on dramatic and performance analysis
based in Theory.  The issue will be edited by Reid Gilbert.=20
Papers are invited which explore new texts (both plays and
performances) or revisit canonical texts from various theoretical
perspectives.  Among the many issues which might be explored:

- Feminist rereadings of established plays,

- Feminist readings of new plays, Performance Art or cultural
performatives,

- Male Studies readings of new plays, Performance Art or cultural
performatives,

- Queer (Gay, Lesbian Studies) rereadings of established plays,

- Queer (Gay, Lesbian Studies) readings of new plays, Performance
Art or cultural performatives,

- Psychoanalytic Criticism of new or existing work, employing any
of a variety of psychological perspectives,

- Post-Colonial readings of new or existing plays, Performance
Art or cultural performatives,

- Issues of Authorship or Subjectivity in new or existing work.

Papers might, of course, combine various theoretical approaches
in analysis.  A linking approach or theme may evolve from among
papers submitted; all submissions will be considered for more
general publication in TRIC as well as for this special issue.=20
Submissions should be made by December 15, 1996 and should be
sent either to the journal office or directly to the Guest
Editor:

Papers should be sent in hard copy (4 copies) and on disk and
should employ 4th ed. MLA style.  Please consult a recent issue
of the journal for matters of style.

_Recherches theatrales au Canada_ invite des communications pour un
numero special portant sur l'analyse theatrale et dramatique
basee dans la theorie. Ce numero sera dirige par Reid Gilbert.
Nous invitons des communications qui explorent les textes anciens
et nouveaux (litteraires aussi bien que joues) selon des
perspectives theoriques variees. Parmi les divers sujets qui
pourraient etre explor=82s:

- analyses et critiques feministes de pieces de theatre
classiques,

-analyses et critiques feministes de nouvelles pieces de theatre,
de performances, de jeux theatraux ou socio-culturels,

- analyses et critiques de pieces de theatre classiques selon des
theories de sexualite (etudes homosexuelles et lesbiennes),

-analyses et critiques de nouvelles pieces de theatre, de
performances, de jeux theatraux ou socio-culturels selon des
theories de sexualite (etudes homosexuelles et lesbiennes),

-critiques psychoanalytiques de pieces de theatre nouvelles et/ou
classiques utilisant une de des diverses approches
psychologiques,

-evaluations post-coloniales de pieces de theatre nouvelles et/ou
classiques, de performances, ou de jeux theatraux ou socio-
culturels,

-explorations de questions ou problemes de paternite litteraire
ou de subjectivite dans des pieces de theatre classiques et/ou
nouvelles.

Certes, la fusion de plusieurs approches theoriques dans le meme
article sera bienvenue.  Selon les communications soumises, un
theme central pourra se developper pour ce numero special.=20
Toutes les soumissions seront considerees pour publication
generale et non pas seulement pour ce numero.  Addressez vos
