THEATRE RECORDS ARCHIVES ASSISTANT


The University of Alberta Archives invites applications for a
temporary full-time Theatre Records Archives Assistant.  This is a 16
week contract position with possibility of extension.

Under supervision of senior Archives staff, as part of the Edmonton
Theatre Archives Project, the incumbent will work within defined
archives standards to perform a variety of tasks including some or 
all of the following:

·	identification of former and current Edmonton Theatres and
individuals prominent in the Edmonton Theatre Community over the last
20 years,
                 .preparation of a report recommending the acquisition of
these records by the University Archives,                             
                 ·	arrangement and description of records from selected Edmonton
Theatres already acquired by the Archives, and 
                  ·production of an indexed finding aid and fonds 
level description for each theatre.

Minimum qualifications include the completion of graduate work in
archives studies with previous experience within an archival
environment.  Experience with theatre archives would be a definite
asset.  Also, exposure to computerized database management systems 
and word processing would be an asset.  Students should have some knowledge
of, or experience with, archival practices and procedures and a keen interest
in the preservation of historical information and its use in research and teaching.

The position is funded under the Young Canada Works Program.
