Humanities and Social Sciences Federation of Canada

Executive Director

The Humanities and Social Sciences Federation of Canada  is a not-for-profit
organization promoting research and teaching in the humanities and social
sciences.  It comprises 69 Universities, over 50 Learned Societies, and more
than 20,000 Academics.=20

The Executive Director will report to its elected Board of Directors.  Major
responsibilities will include advising on emerging issues, proposing policy
options, planning and administering programmes and projects, and managing
the office and its staff.  Central to the Executive Director`s duties will
be maintaining collaborative working relationships among elected members,
association officials, government and other agencies working in the
humanities, social sciences and similar areas.

Location:               -       Ottawa, Ontario

Qualifications: -       graduate degree(s) in the humanities or social sciences
                        strong leadership skills and ability to create strategic
alliances
                        familiarity with the academic community, funding
agencies, governmental and non-governmental
organizations
                        experience in association management and fundraising
would be strong assets
                        strong communications skills
                        written and oral fluency in both French and English
