Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management (Public Archives of Nova
Scotia) is pleased to announce a completely redesigned web site, still at
the old URL (http://www.nsarm.ednet.ns.ca). The new site is larger, more
flexible, and has been created with both genealogists and general
researchers in mind. In addition to basic information on services and
activities, several new on-line resources
will greatly enhance site use and research-strategy design. Site
construction is ongoing, so keep the location book-marked for new
developments!

New on-line resources at NSARM include:

1. BosaNova, NSARM's new automated guide to archival holdings. This
database of archival finding aids incorporates both government and
private-sector records. It does not include descriptions of all
NSARM holdings, but is a good starting point for planning on-site research.
BosaNova will be updated regularly with information about newly-available
material or older, re-described holdings.

2. An electronic link from BosaNova to the Council of Nova Scotia Archives
ArchWay database (, as part of the larger Canadian Archival Information
Network (CAIN) initiative now underway.

3. NSARM's first Virtual Exhibit, "Halifax and Its People / 1749-1999,"
developed to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of Halifax.
The exhibit presents some 150 images from the NSARM holdings, with
accompanying captions and text. It has been designed as an on-line
educational, research and general-interest tool, highlighting the people of
Halifax with the changing community as their backdrop. Come and browse!
