UNIVERSITY OF WINDSOR - DRAMATIC ART

COSTUME DESIGNER

This  eight  (8)  month  position  begins November 1, 1999, with a possible
renewal  until  January  2001.  Reporting to the Chair of Dramatic Art, the
Costume Designer will be responsible for the design and construction of all
costumes in order to meet the production needs of Dramatic Art's University
Players  season.  Specific responsibilities will include: supervise support
staff  and assist in the training of student crews; purchase all materials,
equipment and required supplies; remain within budget allocations; maintain
storage  facilities  and costume stock inventory; act as make-up consultant
and  assist students in application; and perform related duties as assigned
by the Chair of Dramatic Art.

The preferred candidate will possess an M.F.A. in Costume Design. The  M.A.
(combined  with  a  minimum  of  three  (3)  years  of design experience in
professional  theatre)  or  an  individual with an established professional
record  will  be considered as an equivalence. Previous teaching experience
at  a  post-secondary  level  is  an  asset, though not required. Excellent
communication  and  human relations skills are expected, and the ability to
work well with others is essential.
