IFTR/FIRT announces
The Fourth Annual
NEW SCHOLAR'S PRIZE

which will be awarded to the best essay by a new scholar, who must be
under
35 years of age or who will not have completed his/her Ph.D on a theme
related to their theatre research prior to March 2000.
The essay, not to exceed 4000 words, should be submitted in THREE
copies, in
English or French. It should be submitted anonymously, with the author's

name and address in  a sealed envelope on which the title of the essay
is
written.
The New Scholar's Prize consists of travel costs, fees and accommodation
for
the next annual conference of the IFTR/FIRT (which will be held in Lyon,

France, 18-23 September 2000), and a year's membership of the
organization.
The essay will be considered for publication in Theatre Research
International. If essays of sufficient quality are submitted, the names
of
those short-listed will be publicly announced.
In addition, ALL ENTRANTS will be entitled to FREE registration for the
conference in Lyon.
DEADLINE for receipt of essays: 31 March 2000
