The Dramatic Literature/Theatre/Drama in Education programme of the
Department of Fine Arts at Brock University seeks one or possibly
two  different instructors to teach two Year III/Year IV undergraduate
level courses as sabbatical replacements in the Fall-Winter term, 2001-
2002.  The courses to be covered are:

DRAM 3F97 Shakespeare
A critical study of Shakespeare's works in their literary and theatrical
context.
Lectures, seminars, 3 hours per week (Friday mornings)
Note: The text for this course is the three paperback volumes of the Norton
Shakespeare .  Within limits the new instructor may choose from the canon.

DRAM 4F90 Critical Theory and Practice
An advanced study of critical theory, its roots and its applications to
theatre, dramatic literature.
Lectures, seminars, 3 hours per week (Thursday mornings).
Note: Supervising students to do a  'senior essay' is part of this course.
A package of readings for this course is already prepared.

Both courses have relatively small enrollments - respectively, roughly 20
and 10. A full description of the Program is on line at

The current faculty member will be happy to discuss the courses and share
course materials with the successful applicant.

A Ph.D (or ABD) is required, teaching experience is preferred, TA
experience is  expected.
Current CUPE salary is $7225. for a full 24 week course (two 12 week
terms).  Salary for 2001-2002 is under negotiation.
