The School of Literatures and Performance Studies in English,
University of Guelph, invites applications for a tenure-track
position in Drama at the Assistant Professor level, effective 1
August 2001.
        The School has strong BA and MA programs in both Drama
and English and a new joint PhD program with Wilfrid Laurier
University in Literary Studies/Theatre Studies in English.
Flexibility of teaching interests is essential; the Drama program
attempts to integrate the scholarly study of drama and theatre with
courses in acting, directing, production, and design.
        We seek candidates with both strong creative and scholarly records.
Candidates should be able to design productions and teach design and
technical theatre at the undergraduate level, and should also pursue
scholarship that addresses issues of performance The appointee is
expected to be able to contribute to the BA and MA programs in Drama
and the joint PhD, and to have a scholarly profile appropriate to
those contributions. A PhD or MFA (completed or close to completion)
or equivalent professional experience is required.
