ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Ottawa School of Speech and Drama ( OSSD)
Ontario, Canada

Established in 1988, OSSD is a registered charity, with a Board of
Directors, and has a working association with the English Theatre Department
of the National Arts Centre. Enrollment is 600 per year; ages 6 ­ 50+
including summer programming. The School is located in downtown Ottawa with
black-box studios and has satellite studios in Kanata High standards are
required and achieved, including the highest averaging marks worldwide in
the Trinity College, London examinations. Community outreach is an important
aspect of our work. We have 12+  part time instructors and an administrative
staff of a General Manager, an Office Manager and an Administrative
Assistant.

Owing to growth and in order to plan for the future, Natalie Stern, the
founder and current Artistic Director, will be taking up the new role of
Executive Director and will be succeeded by the new Artistic Director. Ms.
Stern will focus on the business and fundraising activities of OSSD.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will have a
minimum of 5 - 10 years experience in theatre arts education and should have
a proven record of working with local professional theatre communities.

Responsibilities
q Curriculum development for year round and summer programming, including
Dramatic Education, Speech and Drama, Shakespeare, Improvisation and Musical
Theatre.
q Timetabling
q Co-ordination and recruitment of teaching staff
q Artistic activities, including production and community outreach.
q Parent/student relations management
q Teach workshops and classes
