Theatre and Film Studies Programme - Acting and Directing


The School of the Arts at McMaster University invites applications for a
nine-month, contractually limited appointment in Acting and Directing at the
rank of Assistant Professor, commencing August 15, 2003. Minimum salary at
the rank of Assistant Professor as of July 1, 2003 will be $36,097. The
successful candidate will have a M.F.A., or Ph.D. with specialization in
Acting or Directing, or its equivalent, and significant professional
experience in Directing. Equivalent professional training and experience
will be considered.


Teaching duties will include the equivalent of 6 one-term undergraduate
courses in acting, play direction, and stage management.  Candidates with a
demonstrable record of successful teaching at the post-secondary level, a
documented program of on-going artistic and /or academic research, and
experience in organizing theatre events will receive priority.  Candidates
should be willing and able to engage in interdisciplinary teaching and
scholarship within the School.  In addition to teaching and research, the
successful candidate will be expected to take an active part in the
administration of the Theatre & Film Studies Programme, and to serve on
various committees at the School level.
