Technical Specialist, SOTA Technician

A technician is required for the School of the Arts for a twenty-four month
period. On direction from the Director of the School of the Arts, the
S.O.T.A. Technician is responsible for planning and coordinating the
maintenance of equipment, music instruments, and facilities and for the
security of the same. Reporting to the Administrative Co-ordinator of the
School of the Arts, she/he is responsible for ensuring that all relevant
health and safety measures and regulations are made known to faculty, staff,
and students, and that they are enforced. He/she will play a large role in
supervising and assisting students and faculty involved with the School¹s
Theatre and Film Studies programmes, providing design support, but that
focus does not diminish his/her responsibilities to the School at large, as
outlined in the relevant job description, available on request. Design
opportunities will be available. Preferred qualifications include an M.F.A.
(or equivalent) in technical or production related areas of theatre, five
year¹s professional theatre experience, familiarity with stage carpentry and
electrics, and wide-spread knowledge of machinery, audio equipment, and
their maintenance.
