hi nadine:

suggest anton wagner's Contemporary Canadian Theatre: New World
Visions (Simon and Pierre, 1985) and the Canada entry in the
World Encyclopedia of Contemporary Theatre (Routledge,
1994-2000). in the latter suggest he look at the section entitled
"structure." the wagner book was prepared for non-canadian
theatre people in connection with the world congress of the
international theatre institute which was held in toronto and
montreal and sponsored in part by pact. it was edited under the
general advice of the canadian theatre critics association.

i am sure there are others that would be useful.
