Rasik Arts presents Tara by Indias leading English-language playwright, Mahesh Dattani, from January 30 through February 15 at Dancemakers Studio, the Case Goods Building, in the historic Distillery District.

Tara is the story of a brother and sister, born as conjoined twins. With wit and pathos, Dattani deals with the complicated dynamics of the urban Indian family, a patriarchal hierarchy and societal gender preferences, while expressing the universal tendency to objectify those who are different, and the personal journey of coming to terms with the feminine side of oneself in a world that always favors what is male.

Mahesh Dattani is an actor, director and an award-winning playwright. His plays, Dance Like a Man, Final Solutions, and On a Muggy Night in Mumbai have been staged to critical and public acclaim all over India and abroad, including the U.S. His work includes four radio plays commissioned by and aired on BBC radio. He has also taken up filmmaking recently, and his first film, Mango Souffle, won best motion picture award at the Barcelona film festival (2003).

Our cast includes Isaac Thomas, Jay Kazim, Tanya Pillay, Rajiv Punj, Brinda Muralidhar, and Ajit Jain. Come join us!
