The Department of Theatre, Film, and Creative Writing at the University 
of British Columbia invites applications for a tenure-track appointment 
as *Assistant Professor of Theatre Studies effective **01 July 2007**.  
*. The department seeks a scholar who can contribute broadly to the 
undergraduate and graduate programs in Theatre Studies. Additional 
expertise in Asian Theatre will be considered an asset. Applicants must 
have a PhD in Theatre, Drama, Performance Studies or a cognate 
discipline, publications, conference presentations, strong evidence of 
an active program of scholarly research, and some experience teaching in 
a university setting.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory and 
senior undergraduate courses in theatre history and theory, to teach 
graduate courses in his or her specialization, to supervise M.A. and 
Ph.D. theses, and to contribute to the development of new curriculum. 
Professorial-stream faculty at UBC are expected to maintain a high level 
of scholarly activity and publication, and to provide administrative 
services to the Department and the University.

The Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing at UBC is unique in 
Canada, with 24 full-time faculty and numerous part-time faculty and 
guest artists. Each of the Programs has a national and international 
reputation for excellence, strong undergraduate and graduate degrees, 
and is a significant centre for creation and production.  Opportunities 
for multi-disciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within the 
Department and with scholars and artists across the campus.
