Take your theatre training to the next dramatic level!

The Department of Drama at the University of Alberta is committed to the
training and education of individuals who will provide vision for the
future of Canadian theatre. We endeavor to foster in students a unique
combination of practical and critical skills, with an adventurous,
visionary attitude.

The Department of Drama is currently accepting applications for the
2008-09 school year for its four graduate programs:

Master of Arts (MA) (Deadline for applications: January 7, 2008)

Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Directing (Deadline for applications: February
1, 2008)

Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Theatre Voice Pedagogy (Deadline for
applications: February 1, 2008)

Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Theatre Design (Deadline for applications:
February 1, 2008)

These programs prepare students to work in professional theatres, create
their own work and companies, use theatre as a tool in community-based
projects, promote and develop new plays, provide dramaturgy, engage in
critical research and publication about the form and practice of
theatre, and work as educators in a variety of academic settings.

Our department features live performance as the site of interaction and
integration of all aspects of the discipline of theatre; all graduate
students participate in this culture. A lively interplay between
programs enriches the student experience beyond the scope of any one
program.

Graduate students in all four areas interact with faculty directors,
designers, and dramaturges as well as visiting professionals and
distinguished guests from all areas of theatre. The state-of-the-art
facilities and the presence of an expert staff of theatre administrators
and technicians also contribute to the rich learning environment.

Each program is highly specialized and discipline-specific, and features
a distinct curriculum.
