The Festival Of Original Theatre (FOOT), a yearly conference with
evening performances held at the University of Toronto’s Graduate Centre
for Study of Drama, seeks theatrical presentations for its 2009
Conference: “Exquisite Corpses, Bloody Bodies: Murder, Myth, and
Representations of Violence on Stage and Screen,” to be held in Toronto,
Ontario January 28th-31st, 2009.

Performances will be presented in an anthology format, with several
presentations on a given evening. Emphasis is on short works, from as
little as a few minutes to perhaps half an hour; all successful
submissions will be related to the conference theme.

All submissions should be ‘original’ in character, but whether that
means an all-new work or a reworking of historical material is up to
you. Please note that securing rights for any material not in the public
domain will be the responsibility of the individual or group submitting
a performance, and the process of securing rights must have begun prior
to submission.

Possible presentations might include, but needn’t be limited to:

*Staged readings of original plays, including excerpts from full-length
work.

*Fully staged short plays.

*Short dance pieces, multimedia presentations, or other non-dramatic
theatrical forms.

*Chaplinesque scenes of slapstick and knockabout.

*Short film or video presentations.

*Scenes of gore and the /grand guignol/.

Potential participants are asked to submit a 250 word proposal for a
theatrical presentation, along with a bio of theatre experience, to
foot.graddrama at utoronto.ca
<https://webmail.utoronto.ca/imp/message.php?index=31825> no later than
October 15th, 2008. Applicants will be notified by email by November 1.
