FACULTY OF FINE ARTS
 
Applications are invited for a tenure-track appointment in the area of Creative Technologies and Sound Art at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence July 1, 2011.
 
Responsibilities of the position include teaching interdisciplinary courses in the areas of creative technologies, sound art, media arts, performance and music at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Faculty of Fine Arts.  The successful candidate will also play a leading role in the proposed program in Creative Technologies.  She/he will also supervise graduate and undergraduate student work; serve on department, faculty and university committees; and participate in faculty, university and community life.  
 
The successful candidate will have a strong research program in creative technologies, sound and culture including, but not limited to sound art, electronic music, digital sound technology, media arts, sound production, radio, experiences of sound technology, digital culture and creativity, mobile media, curating and programming sound cultures, reception and spectatorship studies, interfacing technologies, networked and remote media.  Applicants must have a doctorate or equivalent in a related discipline. Teaching experience is an asset.  The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to become a research partner (associate) of the New Media Studio Lab (NMSL), the Interactive Media and Performance (IMP) Labs, and the Electroacoustic Composition and Creation Lab.
