Millikin University's Department of Theatre and Dance seeks a Chairperson to lead its nationally recognized programs to new levels of success.  Millikin is a private, comprehensive, primarily undergraduate university in Decatur, IL.  Current enrollment in the Department of Theatre and Dance is 171 majors, served by 12 FT faculty, 2-3 adjunct instructors, and 3 staff.  The Department offers the BA in Theatre, the BFA in Musical Theatre, BFAs in Theatre with emphases in Design/Production, Acting, Stage Management, and Theatre Administration, as well as minors in Theatre and in Dance. In addition to the academic programs, the department produces a six-show season that includes musicals, operas, plays, and dance concerts.  The department is housed within the College of Fine Arts, which also includes the School of Music and the Art Department.  The Chair of Theatre and Dance reports to the Dean of the College of Fine Arts. The universitys current capital campaign,Transform MU, includes a $16 million Center for Theatre and Dance to be built within the next 2-3 years.
 
The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in a theatre discipline, have at least five years of university teaching, and possess demonstrated leadership skills.  Preferred qualifications include arts administration, fundraising, and artistic or managerial experience in professional theatre.  This is a tenure-track position, with consideration for tenure based on performance and experience, at a time determined in consultation with the Dean.
