The Drama Department at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a twelve-month term position in Acting at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective July 1, 2014. The successful candidate will have teaching experience at the post-secondary level, will be well versed in Stanislavski-based actor training, and will be able to integrate it and other approaches (e.g. Meisner) in classroom instruction. An MFA, or its equivalent in professional theatre experience, is required. The candidate must be capable of teaching a range of undergraduate acting courses, and must have experience in embedding Aboriginal performance and story-telling methodologies into curricula. Experience in directing is an asset. The candidate must have the administrative capability of developing and implementing strategies associated with promotion and recruitment of a Departmental initiative focused on an Aboriginal Theatre Program. Successful establishment of new Aboriginal theatre programing is desirable, as are connections with various funding agencies, and a record of liaison roles with First Nations communities.
The College of Arts & Science offers a dynamic combination of programs in the humanities and fine arts, the social sciences and the sciences.  There are over 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the College and 325 faculty, including 12 Canada Research Chairs.  The College emphasizes student and faculty research, interdisciplinary programs, a focus on Aboriginal engagement, as well as community outreach and international opportunities.

Salary Band (July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2014):
Assistant Professor         $86,844 (floor) to $104,357 (CDI ceiling)
