>>
>> The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London invites applications for the Principal (Elsie Fogerty) and Shepherd studentships for new PhD students in 2016/2017.
>>
>> Central is pleased to announce two fully funded studentships that offer an exciting opportunity for suitably qualified candidates to undertake doctoral study in the field of drama, theatre and performance.
>>
>> In the space of less than a decade, Central has built up a unique culture of postgraduate research <http://www.cssd.ac.uk/course/research-degrees-mphil-phd> with students working closely across its range of specialist areas. It has recognised expertise in the areas of acting and actor-training; applied and social theatre; dramaturgy, directing, directors, scenography and design; performance and philosophy; and cultural histories of performance. We welcome applications in any of these areas.
>>
>> Home and EU students are eligible for a full award. A full award is for the total value of tuition fees and a £15,500 maintenance grant, matching a fully-funded AHRC studentship, for up to three years for new first year students. The value of the award for overseas students is 50% fee waiver and a £15,500 maintenance grant. All students will also be eligible for an additional £500 annual research budget (for conference attendance and specialist training). It is expected that the successful applicants will also serve as research assistants in one of Central’s international centres.
>>
>> The programme offers successful candidates two points of entry: October 2016 or January 2017, and the award is applicable to both starting dates. Applicants should normally hold, or be studying for, a Master's degree in drama, theatre or performance studies or a cognate discipline (e.g. Cultural Studies).
>>
>> For enquiries, further information or a preliminary discussion about making an application, please contact research at cssd.ac.uk <mailto:research at cssd.ac.uk>.
>>
>> The deadline for the receipt of fully completed applications <http://www.cssd.ac.uk/research-degrees-applications> for both awards is FRIDAY 6th MAY 2016, with calls to interview scheduled for the week beginning Monday 23rd 2016.
>>
>> Applications sent directly to the Research Office or potential supervisors by post or email will not be accepted.
