Hello Louise, and All,
Thank you so much for your email, your support, and your response about Calgary!
Unfortunately, resources being what they are, we couldn't afford to have an EIT reading in every province, let alone every city (though we would love to!!!). To this end, the Edmonton and Calgary organizers joined forces for their reading, so even though the event takes place in Edmonton on April 3, they chose a playwright residing in Calgary for their reading. Karen Hines will be reading her play, All the Little Animals I Have Eaten (poster attached here). I hope you will be able to make the trip to Edmonton!
If not, please note that we are always looking for people and partners who would like to set-up and host various kinds of EIT events in their own communities. Louise, if you and/or someone else would like to get something going, please contact us at EIT (contact info is below my signature)! We would love to see more events in Calgary, and everywhere else for that matter!
On a related note, there will be a launch party in Calgary on Feb. 11, 2016 for the CTR Winter 2016 issue, Equity in Theatre. Stay tuned for more info about that!
Cheers,
Rebecca--

Hi Rebecca and all, Congratulations on this series. It sounds wonderful, a major initiative across Canada!! I am SO, SO disappointed there is no reading planned in Calgary. There is such an urgent need to make more women’s voices heard in this city, where mainstage programming so rarely includes a play by a woman or members of other marginalized groups. Theatre is good here, but, in the main, very narrow. Louise Forsyth From: Canadian Theatre Research [mailto:CANDRAMA at LISTSERV.UNB.CA] On Behalf Of Rebecca Burton
