The University of Lethbridge, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Theatre and Dramatic Arts invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in dramatic literature and criticism at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2016.  This position is subject to the approval of the Board of Governors.

Candidates must possess a PhD (ABD will be considered) in drama/theatre and an active research program, demonstrated through a promising record of scholarly publications and conference presentations. Teaching duties will include introductory survey courses as well as specialized courses in dramatic literature, theatre criticism, and other topics in the candidate’s area of specialization. The ideal candidate will display teaching excellence, evidenced by post-secondary teaching experiences and a commitment to innovative educational practices. Administrative contributions to the Department of Theatre and Dramatic Arts, the Faculty of Fine Arts, and University community are expected.

The Department of Theatre and Dramatic Arts offers BA, BFA, and combined undergraduate degree programs within a liberal education context, as well as a developing MFA program. Our passionate instructors and vibrant students foster a sense of community that welcomes imagination, self-expression, and collaboration. Regular visits from high-profile guest artists provide exposure to diverse perspectives. The Department features a dynamic season of theatre activities, including mainstage productions with significant technical elements, a student-run series of productions, and an array of practical workshops, play readings, public forums, and special events. The Department’s activities are supported by its outstanding facilities and staff.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including a statement of teaching philosophy and, if possible, sample syllabi and teaching evaluations), and a writing sample (maximum 20 pages). Please have three confidential letters of reference from qualified referees sent directly to the Dean of Fine Arts by the closing date.
