Call for Papers:
"Shaw at The Shaw" Conference in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, July
21-25, 2017

Deadline for submissions: January 30, 2017.

Sponsored by the International Shaw Society, The Shaw Festival, and
York University, "Shaw at The Shaw" seeks paper proposals that will
cover a broad spectrum of topics but will give some preference to
topics on the two Shaw plays scheduled at The Shaw Festival, SAINT
JOAN and ANDROCLES AND THE LION, and on comparisons of Shaw to other
playwrights and of Shaw's plays to other plays featured in the 2017
Festival season (see www.shawfest.com). Student papers for special
sessions are welcome as well. Send an abstract of 200-300 words with
your name and employer/university to shawconference at gmail.com by 30
January, 2017. Questions can be directed there as well. If unknown
to the committee, include letter of introduction and CV as well. With
the same deadline, ISS Travel Grants and Bryden Scholarships are
available to emerging scholars: see
http://www.shawsociety.org/iss-travel-grants-2017.htm.

The keynote address will be by Tim Carroll, the new Artistic Director
at The Shaw, who will be directing both Shaw plays. Substantial
discounts on hotels (The Prince of Wales being the primary site of the
conference) and on tickets for plays, two for each play from July 20
through July 26, will be available after paying for registration.

See www.shawconference.com for the details and to register. Major
credit and debit cards accepted. For general reference and
information, see www.shawsociety.org and
www.shawsociety.org/conference2017.htm. Questions may also be sent to
ISS at shawbiz.org or the President of the ISS, Michael O'Hara, at
mohara at bsu.edu.
