[Candrama] University of Lethbridge - Drama Instructor - Design and Production (continuing position)

The Department of Drama at the University of Lethbridge invites applications for a full-time continuing appointment in Design and Production, at the rank of Instructor, starting July 1, 2017, subject to budgetary and Board approval.

Applicants must possess a terminal degree in Design for Theatre (Theatre/Drama), specializing in Scenic Design and Scenic Painting and one other area in design (Sound, Costumes, Lighting, Projections). Applicants should also have professional theatre experiences in design and production.  The successful candidate will teach courses in Scenic Design and other design or production courses in her or his area of expertise. The candidate will also design for the Department’s productions.  Teaching duties in other areas of the Drama Department may be assigned depending upon the candidate’s expertise. In addition, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to supervise graduate students.

The ideal candidate will display teaching excellence, evidenced by post-secondary teaching experience and a commitment to innovative educational practices. Administrative contributions to the Department of Drama, the Faculty of Fine Arts, and University community are expected.

The Department of Drama offers BA, BFA, and combined undergraduate degree programs, as well as a developing MFA program. Our passionate instructors and vibrant students foster a sense of community that welcomes imagination, self-expression, and collaboration. Regular visits from high-profile guest artists provide exposure to diverse perspectives. The Department features a dynamic season of theatre activities, including mainstage productions with significant technical elements, a student-run series of productions, and an array of practical workshops, play readings, public forums, and special events.

The Faculty of Fine Arts, housed in the Centre for the Arts with state‑of‑the‑art equipment and facilities, offers degree programs in Music, Art, Drama and New Media within the liberal arts education context and focuses on excellence in teaching and research/creative activity.
