[Candrama] THPERF 366 - Writing for Performance instruction

The Theatre and Performance program at the University of Waterloo is searching for an instructor for our Writing for Performance course (THPERF 366) which will be offered in the fall term.  This is a course for upper-year students to explore techniques for analyzing, interpreting, and creating texts for theatre and performance. Currently, this is the only course we offer that serves students who want to write plays; so, part of this course should include the basics of play writing.

In the fall term of 2023, this course will be taught in-person, with a maximum capacity of 30 students.  Class times are Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 11:20 a.m.

The contract is a sessional teaching contract ($8,910) over the 4-month term.  The instructor will be responsible for:

  *   Developing the syllabus, based on the learning outcomes supplied by the program.
  *   Leading classes in-person.
  *   Supplying reading/viewing materials for the students.
  *   Marking assignments, offering constructive feedback, and grading the students.

Important dates:
First day of class                                       Wednesday, September 6
Reading Week                                           October 9 - 13 (no classes and no assignments can be due)
Last day of class                                        Tuesday, December 5
Exam Period                                              December 8 - 22
Final grades due                                       Friday, December 22
