*Dear Colleagues - we have extended the deadline for proposals to _30th
June_ *

*The S Word*, in partnership with *The Theatre Studies Department of the NKUA*

presents a symposium

*The S Word: Stanislavsky - Director, Trainer, Pedagogue.*

*Thursday 9th to Saturday 11th November 2023*

*at The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens, Greece.*

>From the first gathering of the Art Theatre’s group of actors for the
rehearsals of /The Seagull /in Pushkino until his work in the last
Opera-Dramatic Studio, Stanislavsky aimed to train his actresses and
actors and provide them with the tools to develop their skills and their
art. He was the first director-pedagogue, incorporating in his directing
an educational approach and paving the way for future generations of
directors, who put actresses and actors at the centre of their work.

This Symposium will focus on Stanislavsky’s ability to be a productive
director, providing successful productions for a demanding repertoire,
and, simultaneously, a gifted trainer and charismatic pedagogue of
actresses and actors, within the rehearsal room, the Art Theatre’s drama
school and the studios. It will aim to discover Stanislavsky’s pedagogic
legacy in contemporary directing and his influence in the field of theatre.

The symposium will consist of papers, practical workshops, panel
presentations and discussions.

We now invite proposals for the following:

Papers (20 minutes)

Workshops/practical demonstrations (40 minutes)

Panels with a minimum of three speakers (60 minutes)

Proposals of not more than 300 words should be accompanied by a brief
biography, and emailed to Dr Michaela Antoniou (michanton at theatre.uoa.gr
<mailto:michanton at theatre.uoa.gr>) to arrive no later than the *30th
June 2023*.

Online booking/registration for this event will be available in July 2023.
