La maîtrise en théorie du théâtre et dramaturgie de l'Université d'Ottawa est un programme unique au Canada et en Amérique du Nord (https://www.uottawa.ca/faculty-arts/programs/graduate/theatre).



Nos diplômés travaillent à l'échelle nationale et internationale, tant dans le milieu universitaire (en tant que professeurs de théâtre) que dans l'industrie du théâtre. Ce programme offre un environnement hautement personnalisé pour aiguiser votre vocabulaire académique et vos compétences pratiques, à la fois en tant qu'aspirant universitaire et en tant qu'artiste. Ce programme de deux ans vous offre la possibilité de développer votre intérêt pour la dramaturgie pratique et théorique, de discuter des théories théâtrales de pointe et de devenir un véritable activiste. Nos cours théoriques sont partagés avec les étudiants en maîtrise de mise en scène et d'autres disciplines afin de favoriser le dialogue dans un environnement interdisciplinaire. Nos projets de thèse de maîtrise sont hautement individualisés. Vos directeurs de thèse sont des chercheurs de renommée internationale dans le domaine du théâtre et des études sur la performance, qui ont à leur actif un nombre remarquable de publications et d'influences académiques.



Le point fort de ce programme est la thèse de maîtrise avec projet créatif. Il permet aux étudiants de mettre en pratique des approches concrètes de la pratique et de la théorie théâtrales, de repousser les limites des études théâtrales en avançant des méthodologies de pointe telles que l'auto-ethnographie, le théâtre appliqué, les projets communautaires, la pédagogie du théâtre, le théâtre in situ, les projets environnementaux, l'écriture créative, la création collective et le théâtre improvisé. L'interdisciplinarité, le théâtre politique, la justice sociale et les approches environnementales sont nos points forts.

With our graduates working nationally and internationally, both in academic settings (as theatre professors) and in theatre industry, this program offers a highly personalized environment to sharpen your scholarly vocabulary and practical skills, both as aspiring academic and artists. This two year program provides opportunities to develop your interests in practical and theoretical dramaturgy, discuss cutting-edge theatre theories, and become a true activist. Our theoretical courses are shared with MFA students in Directing and other disciplines to provide opportunities for enhanced dialogue in interdisciplinary environment.



Our MA Thesis projects are students’ highly individualised. Your supervisors are internationally recognized researchers in theatre and performance studies, with remarkable record of publications and academic influence.



The highlight of this program is MA Thesis with a Creative Project. It allows students practice hands-on approaches in theatre practice and theory, pushing the boundaries of theatre studies by advancing such cutting-edge methodologies as autoethnography, applied theatre, community-based projects, theatre pedagogy, theatre in situ, environmental projects, creative writing, collective creation, and devised theatre. Interdisciplinarity, political theatre, social justice, and environmental approaches are our forte.
