<DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>I have been contacted by Prof. Andrew Burstein
of the Department of History at the University of Northern Iowa. He is writing a
chapter on the early novels (Saratoga, 1824; Yorktown, 1826) of Eliza Lanesford
(Foster) Cushing when she lived in Brighton, Massachusetts, prior to moving with
her husband, sister, and mother to Montreal in 1838. (Her husband, Dr. Frederick
Cushing, worked as a physician at the Emigrant Hospital in Montreal.) Cushing
died in Montreal in 1886.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>Prof. Burstein is attempting to locate the
collected papers of Cushing or those of her sister Harriet Vaughan Cheney (with
whom she edited The Snow Drop, the first monthly Canadian juvenile literary
magazine 1847-53). He would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone with leads
regarding the Foster/Cushing family prior to their move to Canada and can be
