<DIV><BR></DIV>Dear colleagues,<BR>I have been asked to change the dates of the
Dublin conference on Native<BR>American Ritual and Perforance because the
European Association for American<BR>Studies changed the dates of their
conference in Bordeaux to 22-25 March. The<BR>Dublin conference will now be held
on 26 to 28 March so that people can attend<BR>both conferences. See the change

Papers<BR><BR>22nd American Indian Workshop<BR>26-28 March 2002<BR>Trinity
College Dublin<BR>The 22nd American Indian Workshop, to be held from 26 to 28
March 2002 at the<BR>School of Drama, Trinity College Dublin, will be devoted to
the topic:<BR><BR>Native American Ritual and Performance.<BR><BR>Proposals are
especially welcome for papers that discuss:<BR>1. the representation of Native
Americans in mass media (film, television,<BR>internet, video games,
advertising) and/or in the fine arts (theatre,<BR>performance art, music, dance,
graphic art)<BR>2. the relationship between Native American performance and
ritual (and drama)<BR>3. literature and/or the arts relating to Native American
performance and/or<BR>ritual<BR>4. performance of Native American cultural
history (as in Chicano theatre<BR>which employs Aztec and Mayan mythology)<BR>5.
the use of performance, including the performance of ritual, by
Native<BR>Americans to negotiate their cultural identity vis a vis the dominant
culture<BR><BR>This will be an inter-disciplinary conference of interest to
scholars of<BR>anthropology, sociology, theatre, film and performance studies,
Native<BR>American literature, religious studies and cultural studies. It will
focus<BR>primarily on North America but it may also include papers on Central
and South<BR>America.<BR><BR>Presentations should not exceed 25 minutes
(including the projection of<BR>slides, films, or videos).<BR><BR>In addition,
there will be a session that is normally held by the workshop<BR>with reports
(20 minutes) on 'Current Research', for which individual papers<BR>may also be
proposed. These may deal, for example, with unusual
research<BR>difficulties faced by current scholars or with current trends in
scholarship<BR>or with problems of defining the terms Native American and
American Indian.<BR><BR>Submit proposals (300-500 words) by 15 October 2001
