<P align=center><B>Third Annual</B> <BR><B>INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM FOR
DIRECTORS</B> <BR>JULY 11-29, 2002 <BR><B><I>(plus special Pre-Symposium
Workshop, July 3-10)</B></I> <BR>LaMaMa Umbria International, Spoleto, Italy

<P align=left><BR> The <B>International Symposium
for Directors</B>, sponsored by LaMaMa Umbria is a unique 18-day training
program for professional directors, choreographers and actors. Internationally
renowned theatre artists will conduct workshops and lecture/demonstrations. A
Pre-Symposium Workshop in <B>Théâtre D’Images </B>provides an additional 8 days
of training. All workshops are conducted in English.
<BR> The Symposium includes
all workshops, accommodations at LaMaMa Umbria, Ellen Stewart’s restored villa
in the hills near Spoleto, home-cooked and restaurant meals, performances at the
Spoleto Festival and Todi Festival, excursions to Assisi, Orvieto, Perugia, and
an opportunity to present your own workshop. <BR><BR>TEACHING ARTISTS

</B>(Russia) – legendary theatre and opera director; artistic director of famous
Tangaka Theatre
<BR> <B>Françoise
Gründ </B>(France) –director, scenographer, writer, professor; teacher of
<I>Théâtre D’Images </I>workshop.
<BR><B> Jean-Guy
Lecat </B>(France) – expert on theatrical space; with Peter Brook for 25 years;
will lead us on an exploration of theatre spaces around Umbria.
<BR><B> Ola Mafalaani
</B>(Syria/The Netherlands) – wunderkind director; will present workshop on her
form of visual theatre that is creating a sensation in Europe.
<BR><B> Vladia Smocek
</B>(Czech Republic) – director, playwright, teacher; will emphasize the
director/playwright collaboration.
<BR><B> Vito Taufer
</B>(Slovenia) – postmodern director of last season’s masterpiece, <I>Silence,
Silence, Silence</I>.
