<DIV></DIV>>1. DIRECTOR OF THE CENTRE OF CANADIAN STUDIES

<DIV></DIV>>We seek to appoint an outstanding researcher and teacher to a permanent

<DIV></DIV>>post to be held in the Centre of Canadian Studies in the School of Social

<DIV></DIV>>and Political Studies. With an established record of research commensurate

<DIV></DIV>>with appointment to a Readership, the appointee will be appointed as

<DIV></DIV>>Director of the Centre. The appointee will be expected to engage actively

<DIV></DIV>>in research, teaching and administration and to play a full part in the

<DIV></DIV>>collegial life of the School of Social and Political Studies. Applicants

<DIV></DIV>>should have a background in Canadian Studies and in social sciences or the

<DIV></DIV>>humanities.

<DIV></DIV>>The salary will be on the AT3 scale (Ł35,251 - Ł39,958) and the appointment

<DIV></DIV>>We seek to appoint an outstanding teacher to a one-year post to be held in

<DIV></DIV>>the Centre of Canadian Studies in the School of Social and Political

<DIV></DIV>>Studies. The post is open to candidates with interest in teaching a broad,

<DIV></DIV>>multi-disciplinary first-year course in Canadian Studies. Applicants

<DIV></DIV>>should have completed, or be close to completing a doctoral degree.

<DIV></DIV>>

<DIV></DIV>>The salary will be on the AT2A scale (Ł22,191 - Ł25,451) and the

<DIV></DIV>>appointment will be made from 1 October 2003 or sooner by negotiation.
