<FONT SIZE="2">Only six weeks left to submit to FACTORY THEATRE's CrossCurrents FESTIVAL!</FONT> <BR>
<BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">Factory Theatre is soliciting new stageplays by writers of colour for our</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">third annual CrossCurrents Ð a new play festival devoted to showcasing and</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">developing works whose themes involve the intersection of different</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">cultures.</FONT> <BR>
<BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">In its first two years, CrossCurrents has been a tremendous success. Two of</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">the mainstage productions in our 2003/04 season, Hiro Kanagawa's Tiger of</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">Malaya and Carmen Aguirre's The Refugee Hotel, were first showcased in</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">CrossCurrents. Writers who submitted to CrossCurrents have also received</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">commissions, workshops, and invitations to join the Factory Theatre</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">Playwrights' Lab.</FONT> <BR>
<BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">This year's CrossCurrents Festival will take place in Factory's Studio</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">Theatre from March 8 20, 2004. Each selected play will receive</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">dramaturgical support, a workshop, and a public reading. Out of town</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">playwrights will receive travel expenses and per diem. To be eligible,</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">playwrights must be available to attend the festival.</FONT> <BR>
<BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">CrossCurrents is open to writers from across the country. We are</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">particularly looking for writers from diverse communities whose work</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">examines and questions old ideas of culture in light of the dynamic changes</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">around us today; and for stories in which cultures clash, cross, or come</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">together. Full-length plays in all stages of development are preferred,</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">although shorter plays will also be considered. Additionally we encourage</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">writers now working in other forms (prose, poetry, film, etc.) who are</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">interested in exploring the challenge of playwriting to submit plays or</FONT> <BR>
<FONT SIZE="2">works-in-progress.</FONT> <BR>
