He was founding Dean of the School of Creative Arts, Sciences and Technology at
the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Director of the Simon Fraser Gallery, and
Editor of the Canadian Review of Art Education. He has published in the
leading international journals of arts education, and he taught for several
years in the public schools of <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Alberta</st1:place></st1:State>
and BC. In 2003 was appointed Visiting Professor at the <st1:City w:st="on">Tianjin</st1:City>
<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Academy of Fine Art</st1:City>, <st1:country-region
w:st="on">China</st1:country-region></st1:place>. His exhibition,
“Medieval Places: Recent Photographs of French Romanesque
Architecture” was held at <st1:City w:st="on">Alliance</st1:City>
Francaise in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Vancouver</st1:place></st1:City>

Columbia Okanagan</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>. She is President of the
Canadian Society for Education through Art, and on the Executive of the BC Art
Teachers Association. She has a BEd and a MEd from the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType
w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Victoria</st1:PlaceName></st1:place>,
and a PhD from UBCV. She has been awarded the "Art Educator of the
Year Award" from the National Association for Education through Art (<st1:City
w:st="on">Chicago</st1:City>, 1993), from the Canadian Society for Education
through Art (<st1:City w:st="on">Montreal</st1:City>, 1997), and the BC Art
Teachers' Association (<st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Vancouver</st1:place></st1:City>,
2002). Dr. McCoubrey has authored several art education resource books,
and has research interests in all aspects of art education, in aboriginal
education, teachers' beliefs, and assessment. She serves as Chair of a
municipal Public Art Commission, Chair of Lake Country ArtWalk, is a Director
of the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan, and when possible, finds time to
spend in her studio painting.<o:p></o:p></span></font></b></p>
