Dear CanDrama members,

I am a PhD student at Queen Mary, University of London. I am putting together a multidisciplinary panel proposal for the ATHE conference in July 2007. The focus groups involved are:

FOCUS GROUP 18 (TH): Theatre History
FOCUS GROUP 14 (RT): Religion and Theatre
FOCUS GROUP 13 (PS): Performance Studies

There are currently two papers and we are looking for a third. My research is in Performance
Studies (focus on ritual) and the other panelist is an Assistant Professor of History at Brock University. While not focussing specifically on the example of New Orleans for the panel the theme of regeneration is the impetus for questions such as - what happens when ritual is disrupted, how do rituals help a community/nation to deal with loss, do new rituals arise out of crisis and what is the promise of ritual? A potential title for the panle is "The Promise of Ritual." A more fitting title will beconfirmed when we have a third proposal.

If you are interested in joining the panel or can forward this on to anyone who might be interested, please let me know. The dealine for submissions is Wednesday, November 1, 2006 so a quick reply would be appreciated!

Thank you,

Megan Macdonald

<div
