The
Graduate Centre for Study of Drama is pleased to present the 2007<b>
Festival
of Original Theatre: Dissolving Borders</b>, taking place <b>February
15-17</b>.
This yearly festival organized by Drama Centre students brings together
theatre
scholars and practitioners to explore relevant issues in drama and
performance.<span style=""> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This year's conference and performance-based
festival sets
out to address the ever-expanding definition of culture and the
question of
what constitutes a cultural group in theatre. F.O.O.T. provides a forum
for
scholars and artists to engage in discussion through papers,
performances,
talk-backs and panels.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The conference opens with keynote speaker <b>Ric
Knowles</b>
on Thursday February 15, followed by paper panels on Friday and
Saturday, as
well as three nights of performance.<span style=""> </span>The
performances kick-off with Anusree Roy's <i style="">Letters
to my Grandm</i>a on Thursday February 15; Jessica Glanfield's <i
style="">That Indescribable Life</i> and Thomas
Jones' <i style="">Playground</i> will be presented
on Friday February 16; and Phyllis Wong, Cynthia Chwen-Woan Kuan and
Jen Yin
Lin's <i style="">Re-Imagining Yellow</i> and Maki
Yi's <i style="">Gramma</i> close off the conference
on Saturday February 17.<span style=""> </span>Performances
begin at <st1:time minute="0" hour="20">8:00pm</st1:time>.<span

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">On Friday February
16 an
artistic panel featuring <b>Philip Akin</b> of Obsidian Theatre, <b>Yvette
Nolan</b> of Native Earth, <b>Holly Lewis</b> of Theatrefront and <b>Nina
Lee
Aquino</b> of fu-GEN will be held from 1pm-3pm. </span>Admission to
papers and
all panels is free.<span style="font-size: 11pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
