<DIV><FONT size=2>DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL THEATRE<BR>The Department of Drama and
Speech Communication at the University of Waterloo invites applications for a
permanent, 10-month per year position as Director of Technical Theatre beginning
September 1, 2008. <BR>Based in a liberal arts faculty which aspires to
high national and international standards, the Drama program provides an equal
balance between courses in theatre/performance studies and theatre practice.
Teaching areas include: Dramatic Literature, Theatre History, Theatre Criticism,
Performance Theory, Dramaturgy, Theatre and the New Media, Acting, Directing,
Designing, and Stagecraft. The Department presents 3-4 mainstage productions
annually, in addition to several student-initiated projects. The successful
candidate must have: BA plus extensive professional experience, or the
equivalent combination of education and professional experience in Technical
Theatre; proven supervisory skills in a theatre production environment; computer
skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; advanced computer skills including
CAD, digital audio processing and editing software, with knowledge of video
editing, server, and network applications; instruction of crew experience is
required; teaching experience preferred; proven ability to troubleshoot/problem
solve under time pressure; ability to handle multiple demands and priorities;
well developed interpersonal skills. Certificates/training in First Aid,
Firearms, and Pyrotechnics are required. </FONT></DIV>
